RNC accuses Twitter of ‘illegally’ supporting Biden
The Republican National Committee (RNC) filed a complaint with the Federal Election Commission (FEC) on Friday accusing Twitter, Inc. of an “illegal corporate in-kind political contribution” to the presidential campaign of Democratic nominee Joe Biden by removing the New York Post’s article on his son’s Hunter’s alleged business connections to China.
The committee stressed Twitter took no similar action to prevent the sharing of The New York Times’s article on United States President Donald Trump’s income tax returns. It went on to label Twitter “a partisan actor, run by partisan Democrats,” and urged the FEC to conduct an investigation into the matter and “impose the maximum penalty allowed under the law.”
Twitter already faces the possibility of being subpoenaed by the Senate over the matter. Its Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Jack Dorsey subsequently described removing the posts concerning The New York Post’s article about Hunter as “wrong.”
