ROC files complaint over rhythmic gymnastics results
The Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) filed on Saturday an official complaint with the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) over the judging at the individual rhythmic gymnastics event at the 2020 Summer Olympics.
Earlier in the day, a controversy arose after Israel’s Linoy Ashram won the gold medal despite dropping a ribbon during one of her exercises. Russia’s Dina Averina, who did not make such a mistake, which is usually penalized with the deduction of points, ended up collecting the silver.
Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Maria Zakharova also commented on the matter, saying the judges made a “forgery against Russia in front of the whole world.”
