Romney backs SCOTUS voting before elections
United States Senator Mitt Romney (pictured) said on Tuesday that he would support the vote on President Donald Trump’s nomination for the Supreme Court (SCOTUS) ahead of the presidential election.
“I intend to follow the Constitution and precedent in considering the president’s nominee,” Romney said, adding that he intends to use his vote if the nomination reaches the Senate floor. So far, only two Republican senators, Lisa Murkowski from Alaska and Susan Collins from Main, are opposing the election of the new SCOTUS before the November elections.
Trump twitted on Tuesday that he will announce his nominee on Saturday to replace Ruth Ginsburg as the SCOTUS judge.
