Russia holds back from UN vote on Syria over hypocrisy
Russian Deputy Permanent Representative to United Nations Dmitry Polyansky stated that Russia decided to hold back from the UN Security Council vote on the extension of the trans-border humanitarian aid to Syria. He stated Russia is “disappointed by the way its authors conducted the process of its negotiation.”
“From the very beginning, this process was marred by sluggishness, hypocrisy, disrespect and even neglect to the set Security Council’s rules,” Polyansky noted.
Earlier this week Russia’s resolution to allow Turkish aid to be sent to Syria through only one of the existing two border crossing failed to pass the United Nations Security Council vote.
