Russia: Pandora papers are unsubstantiated claims
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Monday that the information revealed in the so-called Pandora papers are “a set of largely unsubstantiated claims.” The documents claimed a number of people close to Russian President Vladimir Putin were involved in offshore deals.
“To be honest, we did not see any hidden wealth of Putin’s entourage. It seems that there will be more publications on that matter, but so far we have not seen anything special,” Peskov said. He added the papers show the United States is actually “the largest tax haven” as the files reported that “South Dakota, Nevada and other states have adopted financial secrecy laws that rival those of offshore jurisdictions.”
