Russia wants guarantees from US to reach Iran deal
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov insisted on Saturday that the United States provide security guarantees that the sanctions it imposed on Russia would not damage the revival of the 2015 Iran nuclear deal.
“We need a guarantee that these sanctions will not in any way touch the regime of trade-economic and investment relations which is laid down in the JCPOA,” Lavrov told reporters, adding that Moscow “asked for a written guarantee… that the current process triggered by the US does not in any way damage our right to free and full trade, economic and investment cooperation and military-technical cooperation with Iran.”
