Sanctioned Russian vessel resumes work on Nord Stream 2
Russian pipe-laying vessel Fortuna, which the United States sanctioned on January 19, continued on Saturday the work on the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline, the project operator announced.
“The Fortuna pipe-laying ship, which began work to resume the construction of the Nord Stream 2 pipeline on January 24, has successfully conducted sea trials and today started pipe-laying in Danish water,” the statement read, as translated by Tass.
According to US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, President Joe Biden described the project as “a bad idea,” while German Chancellor Angela Merkel commented that Berlin will remain devoted to the agreement on Nord Stream 2.
