Schools in England to reopen on March 8 – minister
All schools in England will open on March 8 as part of the first step in easing coronavirus lockdown measures, Vaccines Minister Nadhim Zahawi confirmed on Monday. Outdoor gatherings of six people or two households will be possible starting from March 29, he told the BBC. People should also be able to travel outside their home regions, although they will be encouraged to limit their movement.
Zahawi added that the government will take into account four criteria before it proceeds to each new stage of lockdown easing. The criteria include the vaccination program continuing according to plan, evidence that vaccines are effective in curbing the virus, stabilization of the number of hospital admissions, and a lack of disruption caused by new COVID-19 variants.
