Schumer: Committee sessions too dangerous
It is too dangerous for committee sessions to continue in the United States Congress amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic on Capitol Hill, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer said on Saturday.
“The decision to recess the Senate for 2 weeks after at least 3 GOP Senators have tested positive for COVID makes clear that the Senate cannot proceed with business as usual If it’s too dangerous to have the Senate in session, it’s too dangerous for committee hearings to continue,” Schumer wrote on Twitter.
Earlier, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell announced a halt to Senate floor business until October 14 because of COVID-19 but stressed that committee hearings would continue.
