Senate votes to confirm Biden’s pick for FDA chief
The United States Senate confirmed on Tuesday Joe Biden’s nominee as the Food and Drug Administration’s next commissioner, Dr. Robert Califf.
The vote was secured with the help of six Republicans who voted for Califf. The final result was 50-46, with five Democrats rejecting to vote in favor of the decision.
Califf has already served at the same post in 2016 and 2017, and is set to replace acting commissioner Janet Woodcock.
