South Korea approves use of Pfizer’s virus vaccine
The South Korean Ministry of Food and Drug Safety confirmed on Friday it had approved the use of Pfizer Inc. and BioNTech SE’s vaccine against COVID-19 in all adults after the country secured 10 million doses of it in agreement with the two companies.
The ministry authorized the jab after conducting three separate evaluations of its efficacy and safety. The Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency (KDCA) is expected to decide later if the treatment could be used in those younger than 18.
Pfizer and BioNTech’s jab is the second one to be approved in South Korea, after the medicine produced by AstraZeneca PLC and Oxford University.
