S&P offers concessions in IHS Markit acquisition
In an effort to get antitrust approval of its acquisition of business information provider IHS Markit, S&P Global Inc. offered concessions to the Europan Union, according to a filing disclosed by the European Commission on Monday.
S&P announced that it will be acquiring IHS Markit for $44 billion last year. The company submitted its concession offer to the EU competition body on Friday and is now waiting for a decision that should be available by October 22.
The Commission refrained from commenting on the matter, as it prepares to investigate the issue through feedback from competitors and decide whether to accept the offer or to investigate further.
