Spahn warns COVID restrictions may stay until 2022 – report
Germany’s Health Minister Jens Spahn (pictured) said that the coronavirus restrictions in the country may have to stay in place until the Spring of 2022, the Bild reported on Friday.
Citing sources familiar with the matter, the reports that Spahn warned members of the governing coalition that a fourth wave is inevitable. Moreover, he also reportedly projected there is a “high probability” that those that aren’t vaccinated will get the virus in the next few months. Lastly, Spahn cautioned about the potential increase in the burden of Germany’s health system.
Previously, Bavarian Prime Minister Markus Soeder noted the imminency of a fourth wave but asserted no new lockdowns will be imposed, as the country tries to figure out how to boost its vaccination rollout.
