State of emergency in Japan expanded
Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga on Friday declared a state of emergency until August 31 in prefectures of Saitama, Kanagawa, Chiba and Osaka, in line with earlier information provided by the government.
The current state of emergency has been extended in Tokyo until the last day of August as well.
The capital of Japan, also the host of the ongoing Olympic Games, has recorded over 3,000 new coronavirus cases for the third day in a row, coming in at 3,300 on Friday.
