Stellantis to produce electric cars at UK plant
Carmaker Stellantis unveiled on Tuesday new plans for its Ellesmere Port manufacturing plant in the United Kingdom, announcing that the site will start producing electric vehicles following a £100 million investment supported by the UK Government.
Ellesmere Port will become the first Stellantis plant to produce solely battery-electric models for the Vauxhall, Opel, Peugeot, and Citroen brands owned by Stellantis, the company formed earlier this year through the merger of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles and PSA Group.
“Performance is always the trigger for sustainability and this £100 million investment demonstrates our commitment to the UK and to Ellesmere Port,” Stellantis CEO Carlos Tavares said in a statement.
