Sullivan: US doesn’t want Iran to get nuclear arms
United States National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan (pictured) reaffirmed on Tuesday US commitment to ensuring Iran doesn’t become a nuclear power.
Sullivan’s comments came during a meeting of the US-Israeli Strategic Consultative group, where the two countries discussed joint security issues. He also spoke of “the Biden-Harris administration’s unwavering commitment to Israel’s security,” adding that he invited his Israeli counterpart, Meir Ben-Shabbat, to Washington DC to further discuss the issue.
Sullivan’s remarks come on the heels of Iran announcing its plans to start enriching uranium to 60%, while Israel is being blamed for the incident at Iranian’s Natanz nuclear facility. Iran’s nuclear capabilities are also part of the ongoing Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action talks in Vienna, which has been delayed due to COVID-19.
