Sunak: Economic rebound slowed in autumn
British Chancellor of the Exchequer Rishi Sunak noted on Thursday the recovery from the economic crisis caused by the coronavirus pandemic slowed in autumn in comparison to the results recorded in summer due to the measures of restriction introduced to combat further spread of the disease.
“My economic priority continues to be jobs,” the chancellor commented, reaffirming one of his recent statements. “There are still hard times ahead, but we will continue to support people through this.”
Earlier in the day, the report on the country’s gross domestic product (GDP) in September showed a rise of 1.1% in comparison to August and by 15.5% in the previous three months, but warned of “more uncertainty than usual.”
