Tencent to comply with China’s gaming rules – report
Tencent Chinese technology conglomerate confirmed it will comply with the government’s regulations of online gaming, Yicai Media reported on Wednesday.
Chinese authorities summoned leading online game enterprises and platforms, such as Tencent and NetEase, for an explanatory meeting, where the companies were instructed to limit gaming access to children under 18 years old and to restrict them from any account rental and sales transactions.
Earlier, Beijing introduced the restrictions, according to which all online gaming platforms will be accessible to minors only on Friday, weekends and holidays between 8 pm and 9 pm. On American stock markets, both Tencent and NetEase lost over 2% and 5% accordingly.
