Texas governor bans COVID vaccine passports
Texas Governor Greg Abbott announced on Tuesday that he has issued an executive order forbidding the creation of government-mandated coronavirus vaccine passports by state agencies or political subdivisions in Texas.
Organizations that are recipients of public funds will also not be allowed to require proof of vaccination status from customers in order to provide any service or enter any place. The governor stressed the importance of keeping health information private and said that the vaccination effort in Texas will continue “without treading on Texans’ personal freedoms”.
Last week, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis issued a similar executive order banning vaccine passports in Florida.
