There’s no trade war with China – Australia
Australia’s Minister for Agriculture, Drought and Emergency Management David Littleproud (pictured left) pointed out on Tuesday that there is “no trade war” with China.
Earlier in the day, China introduced an 80% tariff on barley coming from Australia, which caused concern among Australian farmers, who claim that almost 50% of their barley gets exported to the People’s Republic on a yearly basis.
Australia’s Minister for Trade, Tourism and Investment Simon Birmingham (pictured right) said that the Chinese government’s decision “doesn’t stack up” but dismissed any possible links to the fact that Australia is seeking information from Beijing about its early course of action during the coronavirus pandemic.
