Toyota partners with Chinese firms on fuel cell systems
Toyota Motor Corporation stated on Friday they have joined forces with five Chinese partners to work on the development of a fuel cell system for commercial cars to contribute to China’s vision of clean mobility society.
Toyota will cooperate with China FAW Corporation Ltd, Dongfeng Motor Co, Guangzhou Automobile Group Co Ltd, Beijing Automotive Group Co Ltd, and Beijing SinoHytec Co Ltd on the creation of their own system to convert the direct current into energy that would motion cars instead of fuel. “There is no other automobile market with such a sense of speed, and I am extremely confident that we will gain partners we can work with toward the shared target of expanding the use of FCEVs in China,” Toyota’s operating officer Shigeki Terashi said.
The Japanese car manufacturer announced last year it was planning further investments in the production of electric vehicles.
