Treasury yields lower ahead of Trump’s China move
Longer-term bond yields fell on Friday ahead of United States President Donald Trump’s press conference on China. The US leader is set to respond to the latest escalation of tension with Beijing after the National People’s Congress approved a proposal to impose new national security legislation for Hong Kong.
The yield on the benchmark 10-year Treasury note fell 2.7 basis points to 0.668% at 6:15 am ET. Meanwhile, the yield on 30-year debt was down 1.7 basis points to 1.435%. Ten-year note futures climbed 0.13% at 6:20 am ET.
