Turkey breaks daily record with 59,187 COVID cases
Turkey’s Health Ministry reported on Tuesday that there were 59,187 new coronavirus cases registered in the country, 3,000 cases more than the previous daily record. The current total number of cases stands at 3,962,760.
Over the same period, there were 273 COVID-related deaths, just shy of the previous daily record. The total number of deaths now stands at 34,455.
As the country battles the third wave of the pandemic, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced further lockdown measures imposing a 7 pm curfew from Wednesday for the month of Ramadan.
