Turkey will eliminate ‘terrorist threats’ in Syria – Erdogan
President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Monday that Turkey will take all necessary steps in Syria to eliminate the threat posed by the Syrian arm of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), a militia group recognized as a terrorist organization by multiple countries including Turkey.
The statement comes after a shootout with the PKK in the Syrian city of Azaz left two Turkish police officers dead, and two more wounded.
“We have run out of patience,” Erdogan said after a Cabinet meeting. “Turkey is determined to eliminate threats arising from northern Syria, either together with forces active there, or with our own means,” he explained.
