Two cargo ships collide in Baltic Sea
Two cargo ships have collided in the Baltic Sea’s area between Ystad in Sweden and Denmark’s island of Bornholm, the Swedish Maritime Administration stated on Monday.
The department’s spokesperson Jonas Franzen told SVT that one of the vessels has turned upside down. He remarked that several boats and helicopters from both Sweden and Denmark are currently inspecting the scene and searching for potential victims.
Franzen said that “we do not know exactly how it happened” yet but added that “the rescue boats have heard screams in the water.” He also stated that one of the boats involved in the incident was registered in Denmark and the other one in Norway.
