Two GOP congressmen to vote to impeach Trump
United States Republican Representative John Katko of New York and Adam Kinzinger of Illinois (pictured) announced they will vote to impeach President Donald Trump for inciting his supporters to storm the Capitol last week.
“To allow the president of the United States to incite this attack without consequence is a direct threat to the future of our democracy,” Katko said in a statement, becoming the first Republican to join the Democrats’ effort against the head of state.
Kinzinger, on the other, said that there is no doubt in his mind that the president “broke his oath of office” in inciting the insurrection. “He used his position in the Executive to attack the Legislative,” Kinzinger said while explaining his decision to vote to impeach the head of state.
