Uber acquires HKTaxi app – TeleTrader.com
Uber said on Friday it has acquired Hong Kong’s most popular tax app, HKTaxi.
“Uber has spent a lot of effort investing in the taxi industry, this transaction reflects that we are committed to investing in the development of the industry in Hong Kong,” Uber Hong Kong’s general manager Estyn Chung told the South China Morning Post.
Uber noted the two ride-hailing apps will continue to operate separately for the time being but are set to collaborate and could introduce some features of one of the apps to the other.
The financial details of the transaction have not been disclosed.
