UK number of COVID-19 cases climbs to 798
The number of confirmed cases in the United Kingdom climbed by 208 on Friday to reach 798, the country’s Department of Health and Social Care said.
British health officials noted that a total of 32,771 people in the UK have been tested for the virus and that 31,973 results came back negative. There were no new fatalities reported on Friday as the number of people who died from COVID-19 in the UK remained at 10.
On Thursday, UK Chief Scientific Officer Sir Patrick Vallance warned that the number of infections in the country may be much higher and that up to 10,000 have already contracted the virus but haven’t been diagnosed with it yet.
