UK parliament approves rise in national insurance
The British House of Commons has voted in favor of adopting a 1.25 percentage point increase in national insurance for both employers and workers in order to fund the country’s health and social care system.
Members of the parliament voted 319 to 248 for the change, which is expected to raise around £12 billion per year according to Prime Minister Boris Johnson. However, opposition MPs voted against the increase claiming that UK citizens will face additional costs prior to getting the help they need.
