UK registers 15,650 new COVID-19 cases
The number of infections from COVID-19 in the United Kingdom increased by 15,650 in the past 24 hours, decreasing slightly from the previous day‘s 18,980, to reach a total of 689,257 on Friday.
The death toll from the disease rose by 136 since the last report to land at a total of 43,429 coronavirus-related fatalities.
In the meantime, Prime Minister Boris Johnson confirmed the government had “started building the domestic infrastructure” to provide more rapid tests to prevent new rises in contractions that would force a new shutdown of the economy.
