UK trade deficit at £1.2B in April
United Kingdom’s total trade balance, excluding non-monetary gold, decreased £3.2 billion to a deficit of £1.2 billion in the three months to April, the country’s National Statistics Office reported on Friday. Exports were down £33.1 billion while imports fell £29.9 billion.
The decrease in both exports and imports was mainly driven by trade in services, which saw drops of £19.5 billion and £18.1 billion respectively.
At the same time, trade in goods saw a £13.7 billion decline in exports and an £11.8 billion reduction in imports.
