UK’s daily virus cases over 90,000 again
The number of infections from COVID-19 registered daily in the United Kingdom surpassed 90,000 for the second time, coming in at 90,418 on Saturday. Out of those, 10,059 were detected as belonging to the disease’s Omicron strain. So far, Britain has recorded a total of 11,279,428 cases since the start of the pandemic.
In the past 24 hours, 125 died from the effects of the virus. The figure for fatalities linked to COVID-19 thus increased to 147,173.
As of December 17, 51,425,763 people received the first dose of a vaccine against coronavirus, 46,965,009 the second one, and 27,156,276 the third or booster shot.
