UK’s Javid: Measures needed to avoid lockdown
British Health Secretary Sajid Javid stressed on Thursday that the latest set of restriction measures, introduced by the government yesterday, was needed to curb the spread of the Omicron coronavirus variant.
Javid noted that the decisive actions contained in the government’s “Plan B” would help England to avoid introducing lockdown around New Year and in January. The secretary also asserted that booster COVID-19 vaccine doses would likely protect people against the Omicron strain.
All citizens are advised to switch to working from home if applicable, and everyone must wear protective masks in all indoor venues from December 10, while access to clubs is restricted to people who have been fully vaccinated or recovered from COVID-19, or have recently tested negative against the coronavirus.
