US awards GM with $36.4M federal contract
General Motors announced on Wednesday that its Defense subsidiary received a contract from the United States Department of State valued at $36.4 million to develop and produce the next generation of SUV fleet.
Over the next two years, GM committed to producing 10 purpose-built Heavy-Duty (HD) Suburbans leveraging the company’s design capacities and off-the-shelf parts, including the body, exterior, propulsion, interior and brakes.
Should the delivery be successful, GM expects a larger contract in May 2023 for a fleet of 200 Suburban vehicles over the course of 9 years.
