US closes mostly lower as earnings season continues
Wall Street closed mostly lower on Wednesday ahead of earnings reports that Nvidia and Cisco are set to unveil after the bell. Earlier in the day, Target released its third-quarter results. Meanwhile, Moderna asked the United States Food and Drug Administration to approve the booster dose of its coronavirus vaccine for all adults in the country. In other business news, Pfizer completed its $2.2 billion acquisition of Trillium Therapeutics and shares of cloud-based software company Braze soared over 40% in its stock market debut.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average index was down 0.58% at the close with Visa, its worst performer, declining 4.70%. The Nasdaq 100 was flat at the end of the trading session. The S&P 500 closed with a 0.26% loss. Energy company APA Corporation dragged the index down with a 6.62% drop.
The euro was 0.09% higher compared to the dollar to change hands for 1.13226 at 3:59 pm ET.
