US, EU should be tougher on Lukashenko – Tikhanovskaya
Belarus opposition leader Svetlana Tikhanovskaya urged on Wednesday the United States and the European Union to take a “braver and stronger” approach in their relations with Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko.
Tikhanovskaya called on the EU to change its current “modest” response to the crisis in Belarus and introduce further sanctions on Lukashenko.
The bloc recently said it would impose more restrictions on Belarusian individuals and companies linked to Lukashenko. Washington called on the international community to do the same. On the other hand, Russia noted “unprecedented pressure” in the West’s treatment of Belarus.
