US jobless claims down to 199,000, lowest since 1969
Initial jobless claims in the United States for the week ending November 20 decreased by 71,000 compared to the previous week’s revised figure to land at 199,000, the lowest since November 15, 1969, the US Department of Labor reported on Wednesday. The four-week moving average stood at 252,250, down by 21,000 compared to the prior week’s revised average and landing at the lowest point since March 14, 2020.
The seasonally adjusted insured unemployment rate for the week ending November 13 was 1.5%, 0.1 percentage point down in comparison to revised numbers from the prior week. The seasonally adjusted insured unemployment during the same week was 2,049,000, down by 60,000 from the previous week’s revised figure and lowest since March 14 last year. The four-week moving average was the lowest since March 21, 2020, and stood at 2,117,000, falling by 47,500 compared to the previous week’s revised average.
