US men’s basketball team wins 16th Olympic gold
The United States men’s national basketball team won the gold medal at the 2020 Summer Olympics by beating France 87–82.
It is the 16th time the US claimed the top podium at the world’s biggest sporting event and the fourth consecutive one. Its teams were victorious at the 1936–68, 1976, 1984, 1992–2000, and 2008–20 Summer Olympics.
This year’s US squad was led by the National Basketball Association (NBA) League stars such as Kevin Durant, who scored most points in the final – 29 and managed by Gregg Popovich. The match for the bronze medal, to be played by Australia and Slovenia, will take place later in the day.
