US opens mixed ahead of earnings season
United States stock markets started the week trading mixed as investors await earnings reports later in the week. Continuing price rises keep causing concern, with San Francisco Federal Reserve President Mary Daly stating inflation is directly related to supply bottlenecks and disruptions, as well as to COVID-19.
The Dow Jones increased by 0.11% at 9:30 am ET, led by Chevron Corp. which gained 1.25%. The Nasdaq 100 dropped 0.44% at the same time, with Comcast Corp. losing 2.19% and the S&P 500 was down by 0.13%, as Emerson Electric Co. declined by 3.86%.
The euro traded flat against the dollar and went for 1.15704 at 9:32 am ET.
