US opens mixed amid earnings, data
Shares on the major stock market indexes in the United States started the session mixed on Tuesday as the investors digested the earnings report by pharmaceutical giant Pfizer Inc. and awaited the financial results of the ride-hailing firm Lyft, Inc.
On the data front, the US trade deficit expanded 1.8% to $80.7 billion in December.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.28%, or 101 points, as the session started, with Amgen soaring 5.42%. The Nasdaq 100 went down by 0.29% at the open as Fiserv tumbled 4.54%. The S&P 500 started the session 0.06% in the red.
The euro lost 0.2% compared to the dollar at 9:29 am ET, selling for 1.14145.
