US opens mostly higher with Dow, S&P at new records
Shares on the major stock market indexes in the United States traded mostly higher as the session started on Friday with the Dow Jones Industrial Average and the S&P 500 extending yesterday’s gains and reaching new all-time highs.
The upbeat sentiment was seemingly backed by better-than-expected financial reports, as Palantir, Airbnb, and Disney beat the analysts’ estimates to end the earnings-heavy month.
The Dow Jones gained 0.27% or 96 points, at the open. The S&P 500 increased by 0.12% as the session started. Disney was the benchmarks’ best performer, surging 4.28% as the session began. The Nasdaq 100 stood flat at the same time, with Moderna soaring 2.61% a minute into the session.
The euro jumped 0.34% versus the dollar at 9:28 am ET, selling for 1.17702.
