US retail sales up 0.6% in June
Advance estimates of retail and food services sales in the United States increased 0.6% to reach $621.3 billion in June when compared to the previous month, topping analysts’ expectations, data released by the US Census Bureau showed on Friday.
Annually, the increase of retail and food services sales stood at 18%. Total sales for the period from April to June were up year-over-year by 31.5%. At the same time, retail trade sales had a monthly gain of 0.3% and a yearly rise of 15.6%.
Meanwhile, clothing and clothing accessories stores, as well as food services and drinking places marked significant annual growth, respectively climbing 47.1% and 40.2%.
