US sanctions Iranian officers, firms over UAVs
United States Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) announced sanctions on Friday against two Iranian individuals, two Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) senior officers and two Iranian companies over their alleged involvement in the development of Tehran’s Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) programs.
Washington claimed that the IRGC’s Quds Force has used “lethal UAVs” and provided them to Hezbollah, Kata’ib Hezbollah, Hamas, the Houthis, as well as Ethiopia.
“Iran and its proxy militants have used UAVs to attack U.S. forces, our partners, and international shipping,” Deputy Secretary of the Treasury Wally Adeyemo asserted in a statement.
