US sanctions oil brokers over support of Iran’s Quds Force
The United States announced on Friday it is introducing sanctions on members of an “oil smuggling network” over their leaders’ support for Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps-Qods Force (IRGC-QF).
“This action targets an oil broker from Oman who, in partnership with senior IRGC-QF officials, has used several companies to facilitate shipments of Iranian oil to foreign customers,” the US Department of State said in a statement and noted the companies in question are based in Oman and Liberia, while the broker also controls a company in Romania.
Washington added it will continue to target all entities that are helping the funding of IRGC-QF through sales of Iranian oil.
