US shares turn negative, Dow closes 300 pts lower
After a volatile session on Thursday saw Wall Street recoup yesterday’s losses at first, United States stock markets then surrendered all of today’s gains in late trading and closed firmly in the red territory. Elsewhere, the Fed initiated the public discussion on a potential central bank digital currency by releasing its first comprehensive report on the topic.
The Dow Jones declined by 0.89%, or 313 points at the close with Dow Inc. decreasing 3.39%. The Nasdaq 100 was 1.34% down as the trading session ended. Peloton was its worst performer after tumbling 23.93%. The S&P 500 dropped 1.10% at the closing bell as Micron Technology led the losses with a 5.48% fall.
The euro was down 0.37% compared to the dollar to change hands at 1.13045 at 3:59 pm ET.
