US stocks turn mixed, Dow falls 160 points
Shares on the major stock markets in the United States turned to trading mixed on Monday after opening the session mostly higher, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average losing more than 160 points.
The Dow Jones was dragged mostly by transport and energy stocks, most notably Boeing, whose shares were down more than 3% after the US Federal Aviation Administration stated it isn’t “realistic” for the FAA to certify Boeing 777X aircraft until 2023.
The Dow Jones dropped 0.5% or 169 points at 10:45 am ET, while the Nasdaq 100 soared 0.97% a minute later, after having reached a new record high earlier in the session. At the same time, the S&P 500 stood flat. The euro was unchanged versus the dollar at 10:49 am ET, selling for 1.19385.
