US to allow AI researchers access to governmental data
United States President Joe Biden’s administration launched a task force on Thursday allowing wider access to government data for artificial intelligence researchers as part of federal efforts to push American technologies into the global lead.
The initiative is officially called the National Artificial Intelligence Research Resource Task Force and consists of 12 members from academic, governmental and AI backgrounds, who will put develop a strategy of allowing researchers access to federal data ranging from demographics to health and driving habits.
The final report shall include among other items “capabilities required to create and maintain a shared computing infrastructure to facilitate access to computing resources for researchers across the country.”
