US trade deficit down to $63.9B in September
The United States’ international goods and services trade deficit decreased by 4.7% or $3.2 billion compared to the last month’s revised figure of $67 billion to stand at $63.9 billion in September, the US Census Bureau and the US Bureau of Economic Analysis said in a report on Wednesday.
Exports from the country reached $176.4 billion, rising by $4.4 billion since August, while imports came up to $240.2 billion, $1.2 billion more compared to the month prior.
The US’ trade deficit with China decreased by $2.1 billion to stand at $24.3 billion at the end of the year’s third trimester, with exports gaining $0.8 billion to $12 billion and imports from the Asian country diminishing by $1.3 billion to $36.4 billion.
