US trade deficit down to $82.9B in October
The United States international trade deficit stood at $82.9 billion in October, down $14.1 billion from the previous month, according to the US Census Bureau’s advance report published on Wednesday.
Exports in October were $15.3 billion higher month-on-month and stood at $157.4 billion. Imports increased by $1.1 billion from September to $240.3 billion recorded in October.
Wholesale inventories adjusted for seasonal variations, but not for price changes, were estimated at $758.5 billion in October, showing a 2.2% gain compared to the previous month and a 14.3% jump on an annualized basis. Seasonally adjusted retail inventories rose by 0.1% on a monthly basis in October but declined 0.7% from October 2020 to amount to $603.6 billion.
