US trade deficit rises to $69.7B in April
The United States international goods trade deficit increased to $69.7 billion in April, up by $4.7 billion from March, the Census Bureau reported on Friday.
The country’s exports were down $32.2 billion compared to last month to $95.4 billion, while imports dropped by $27.5 billion in the same time span to amount $165.0 billion.
Adjusted wholesale inventories for April were estimated to be at $651.5 billion, up 0.4% from March and 2.6% from last year. Adjusted retail inventories in the same period are expected to be $644.9 billion, down 3.6% on a monthly and 3.1% on a yearly basis.
